What you will be doing:
This role will be reporting to the Assoc. Director of Liquids Technology and Regulatory. The successful candidate will be responsible for guiding the technical product development of cosmetics and OTC liquids. This starts with the design phase, continues with the testing phase, and finally supports commercialization. In this role, you will be expected to manage technical execution for formula development and design, stability and safety testing, and assessment of results.
The application of relevant regulatory requirements to all products is critical. This role will also lead testing to ensure both new and improved existing formulations are stable, safe for use, compliant and manufactured to the highest standards. This role will support all facets of liquids’ development including legal, claims, consumer complaints, ESG, PD, and marketing.

- Provide strategic input and guidance to the organization on regulatory trends, changes in global laws, and potential risks.
- Ensure regulatory compliance of all liquids & OTC drugs products – both new and currently in market.
- Assist in creation and maintenance of SOPs relevant to regulatory compliance.
- Support all facets of technical product compliance, including product claims, label copy, ESG and packaging.
- Work with VP of Product Development and Director of Liquids Technology to support product claims creation, align on test design, substantiation, and assist with technical defense.
- Work closely with Liquid Technologies to support any updates to formula manufacturing and raw material issues, ensuring continued compliance with market restrictions.
- Review and approve product artwork to ensure claims, warnings, and usage comply with all domestic and international regulations and labeling laws.
- Oversee the creation of cosmetic safety product reports (CSPRs) and any other documentation required for market compliance.
- In conjunction with external partners, maintain regulatory documentation for all product formulations, including qualitative formula breakdowns, ingredient lists, product specifications, SDS, etc.
- Mathematical proficiency with a creative mindset.
- Excellent project management, teamwork, and time management skills
- Ability to manage a large volume of diverse projects.
- A track record characterized by strong leadership and a successful product development pipeline.
- Proven ability to create a culture of accountability and ownership.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must possess the ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines.
- Operate successfully with minimal supervision.
- Bachelor of Science in a natural science with preference to Chemistry
- 15 years of experience in world-class companies.
- 15 years in a cosmetic regulatory role.
- Strong cosmetics regulatory background.
- Proficiency in Microsoft office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Prior experience using WERCS
- Strong understanding of domestic – national and state specific -- and international registration requirements and demonstrated track record of successful product launches in global markets.
- Broad understanding of cGMP, FDA/MoCRA, Prop 65, CARB, Health Canada, and other applicable regulatory and industry standards for cosmetic personal care products, specifically hair care.
- Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
