What are the responsibilities and job description for the School-Based Mental Health Therapist position at Helen Ross McNabb Center?
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our team as a School-Based Mental Health Therapist. In this role, you will provide mental health services to students in the Loudon and Union counties, working closely with teachers, administrators, and other support staff to create a safe and supportive learning environment.
The ideal candidate will possess a Master's degree in a human services field and at least two years of experience working with children with emotional or behavioral problems, or two years of experience with adolescent substance use/abuse prevention, or a combination of the two. They should also have experience leading groups and trainings, as well as course work in areas such as cultural diversity, human development, etiology and treatment of mental illness, alcohol and drug abuse, physical and sexual abuse, trauma, suicide and learning disorders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide mental health services to students in the Loudon and Union counties
- Work closely with teachers, administrators, and other support staff to create a safe and supportive learning environment
- Conduct individual, family, and group counseling
- Participate in IEP and other school-related meetings
