The Rapids Warehousing Logistics Supervisor ensures effective and timely implementation of all daily logistics operational goals including shipping and inventory management.
This position is with Helena's manufacturing group which operates under the name Helena Industries or HI. HI's corporate offices are located in Collierville, TN, a suburb of Memphis. HI has provided formulations and packaging solutions for companies around the world for over 60 years. Rapids Warehousing is part of the HI family and is a commercial storage, logistics and supply chain partner that operates out of central offices located in Cordele, GA. The employee's primary duty must be the performance of office or non-manual work directly related to the management or general business operations of Helena or Helena's customers. This also includes the exercise of discretion and independent judgement with respect to matters of significance.
What your day may look like
- Supervises loading, unloading and proper storage of shipments received at plant facility including contract manufacturing.
- Trains employees in the safe handling of products and operation of handling equipment.
- Supervises the completion of all required forms and paperwork for incoming and outgoing products.
- Assists with audits of vendor invoices and month-end processing to incorporate finance accruals.
- Reviews vendor invoices and forwards for processing.
- Coordinates with plant management to ensure that product is on hand for scheduled product runs.
- Creates and organizes warehouse layout so that stored products adhere to all requirements and that products are easily identifiable.
- Maintains inventory by conducting monthly physical counts, reconciling variances and inputting data.
- Secures warehouse by turning alarms on and testing systems.
- Keeps equipment operating by adhering to operating instructions.
- Maintains a clean work environment both inside and outside the facility by using good housekeeping habits.
- Other work-related duties as assigned by leader.
- Regular and reliable attendance is required.
Education and experience needed for this position
- Bachelor's degree in logistics, material management, industrial engineering or a related field is required.
- Two years of experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment is required.
- A high school diploma or equivalent and six years of progressively more responsibility and experience in logistics, warehousing or materials management environment will be considered. One year must be in a leadership role.
- Certification in IMDG and IATA is preferred.

- Must be able to complete DOT hazardous materials handling and hazardous waste management training requirements.
- Capable of passing an OSHA respirator physical.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time in extreme hot or cold temperatures is required.
- Ability to work rotating shifts as scheduled.

Your work environment and the physical aspects of the job
There are potential hazards associated with any chemical manufacturing business but at Helena Industries safety is our highest priority. We seek out extensive safety measures including engineered solutions and personal protective equipment and put them in place to minimize exposure to anything that could potentially be harmful to our employees.
The work environment for this position is that of a typical plant environment where the noise level is usually moderate to loud. In this position, you will regularly work near moving equipment/mechanical parts and could be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, chemical and biological hazards, vibrations and a risk of electrical shock. This position requires you to use your hands for many different tasks and to talk, hear, walk, stand and sit. You may be occasionally required to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
Lab and office positions at the plant would only have occasional exposure if they must go out into the plant.
