Mission Statement : The Helena Family YMCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to building self-esteem and enriching spirit, mind, and body for persons of all ages and economic status. POSITION SUMMARY : General Function : Provides direct leadership, instruction, and motivation for students in swimming classes. Your actions as a member of the Aquatics Team should be geared toward moving the Team and the YMCA in a positive direction; the Coordinator and Team need your cooperation and effort in making the Helena YMCA the place for Aquatics. Job Responsibilities : Instructs swimming lessons as assigned in accordance with YMCA guidelines,having prepared lesson plans accordingly. Conveys information on aquatics programs and schedules and as appropriate;refers members and participants to other programs. Maintains records as required (i.e. attendance, progress reports, etc.). Organizes and puts away needed class equipment. Reports damaged equipment.Trains and supervises class aides as assigned.Inspect the pool on a daily basis for potential hazards; correct them or report them to the appropriate personnel. Assist patrons by providing needed assistance cheerfully. Develop a positive relationship with the patrons and the members.Perform chores designed to promote safety, enhance the aquatics experience, and keep the pool environment pleasurable to patrons.
