JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE:

The Plant Manager position provides the leadership, management, and vision necessary to ensure that the company has the proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, and people systems in place to effectively grow the organization; it also ensures financial strength and operating efficiency. The position accomplishes this through a respectful, constructive and energetic style, guided by the objectives of the company.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and management that mirrors the adopted mission and core values of the company
  • Responsible for driving the company to achieve and surpass sales, profitability, cash flow and business goals and objectives
  • Responsible for the measurement and effectiveness of all processes internal and external
  • Provides timely, accurate and complete reports on the operating condition of the company
  • Monitor quality and performance measurements; identify continuous improvement opportunities, applying lean techniques, to improve on metrics
  • Collaborate with the management team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate the rapid growth objectives of the organization
  • Represent the Company with customers and business partners
  • Develop line supervisory staff, and foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the Company
  • Identify needs for capital requirements

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience in a senior management role, preferably in manufacturing or operations management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in using computer systems, including ERP and MRP systems, and the Microsoft suite. Experience with multiple levels of Bill of Materials and multi-sequence order of operations. Strong Project Management and Inventory Management skills
  • Operational Expertise: Knowledge of equipment and its safe operation. Strong time management and organizational skills. Ability to drive and manage complex processes to meet business goals
  • Social Skills: Ability to engage and communicate effectively with large audiences

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.

BASIC FUNCTIONS:

  • Manufacturing:
  • Implement, monitor, and meet manufacturing KPIs such as on-time delivery, supplier performance, and product quality
  • Develop and manage daily priorities that drive production schedules to meet inventory, cost, and quality goals
  • Analyze production metrics and proactively implement improvements for identified issues
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement, responsibility, and accountability through employee engagement and leading by example
  • Provide hands-on leadership in lean manufacturing, including evaluating existing systems and processes and recommending improvements
  • Efficiency:
  • Ensure that all employees meet or exceed labor standards
  • Train employees in best practice methods to meet or exceed labor standards
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineers to improve processes
  • Quality:
  • Review and improve new and existing processes
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Manufacturing Engineering to take corrective action on quality problems
  • Analyze quality metrics and proactively implement improvements
  • Safety:
  • Maintain equipment and facility in safe and efficient working order
  • Ensure all Incident Reports and Accident Investigations are completed and followed up on time
  • Participate in developing and implementing employee safety training
  • Supervision:
  • Develop employees to achieve company goals
  • Plan the effective use of personnel and equipment
  • Investigate major production delays and initiate corrective action
  • Address personnel issues in a timely and professional manner
  • Production Control:
  • Implement and maintain tracking, shipping, and inventory processes
  • Work with Production Control Supervisor to ensure customer and inter-plant delivery dates are met
  • Ensure inventory of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods is accurate
  • General:
  • Develop enthusiasm and respect for the company with adherence to policies and goals
  • Perform diversified work assignments as needed
