What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Engineer position at Helios Electric?
This position is for prospective candidates seeking a long-term, full-time position with career growth opportunities in the electrical industry. We are presently seeking qualified and experienced Electrical Engineer and Electrical Field Technician candidates to work in the NY/NJ metropolitan area. The candidate will be responsible for collecting detailed technical information about electrical equipment at commercial facilities. This position requires routine local travel as well as office-based technical support services. Candidates with NETA testing agency experience are encouraged to apply!
Requirements are as follows:
- Work professionally in the field alongside customer personnel as a representative of the Company. This includes effective, regular communication with customers.
- Must hold a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant work experience in the electrical industry. A minimum of six (6) years of work experience is desired.
- Knowledge of major commercial electrical equipment such as switchgear, switchboards, transformers, motor control centers, panelboards, and adjustable protective devices/settings.
- Understanding of data collection procedures as they pertain to short circuit studies, coordination studies, and arc flash studies.
- Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements as applicable to commercial facilities.
- Ability to operate and maintain tools that include a tablet computer, digital camera, measuring tools, and Personal Protective Equipment.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment to meet Client schedules and completion timelines.
- Knowledge of safety practices pertinent to the electrical and construction industry. Candidate shall have OSHA 10 and NFPA 70E certifications.
