Job Summary
Helios Energy is a boutique electrical contracting firm that specializes in large-scale commercial LED lighting and solar projects. As a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business, we take pride in delivering high-quality, efficient, and sustainable electrical solutions. We are looking for an Electrical Estimator with at least 3-5 years of experience in electrical estimating to join our team. This role is essential in supporting our growth by providing accurate and competitive cost estimates for various commercial electrical projects.

The Electrical Estimator will collaborate closely with project managers and the executive team, utilizing their expertise in cost estimation, bid preparation, and vendor negotiations to ensure our projects' success. This role is perfect for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and seeks to create a significant impact within a small, dynamic organization.

This role demands strong negotiation skills, project management abilities, and a comprehensive understanding of construction estimating processes, especially for electrical projects. The Estimator will collaborate closely with project managers and clients to create effective contracts and ensure their successful implementation.

Key Responsibilities

Estimating & Proposal Development:

• Create accurate and detailed cost estimates for electrical contracting, LED lighting, and solar energy projects.
• Evaluate project specifications, blueprints, and other documentation to prepare estimates for time, costs, materials, and labor.
• Identify value engineering opportunities to optimize project expenses while upholding quality and performance standards.
• Ensure all estimates comply with industry regulations, safety codes, and client requirements.

Collaboration & Coordination:

• Work closely with project managers and the executive team to align estimating strategies with business goals.
• Collaborate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and evaluate material options.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and consultations to fully understand project scope and potential challenges.

Bid Management & Negotiation:

• Prepare and submit comprehensive bid packages and proposals in response to RFPs and client inquiries.
• Assist in contract negotiations to secure profitable and competitive project awards.
• Maintain a strong network of suppliers, subcontractors, and industry professionals to ensure competitive pricing.

Process Improvement & Reporting:

• Maintain accurate documentation and cost databases for historical analysis and future estimating improvements.
• Track and analyze project performance to refine estimating methodologies and increase bid success rates.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance estimating accuracy and efficiency.

Qualifications & Skills

• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in electrical estimating for commercial and/or industrial projects.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, materials, and installation methods for LED lighting and solar applications.
• Proficiency in estimating software (such as Bluebeam, Procore, or equivalent).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical drawings, and technical specifications.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with project teams and vendors.
• Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
