Job Title: Behavior Interventionist
Job Summary: The Behavior Interventionist is responsible for working closely with students, teachers, and school staff to support the social, emotional, and behavioral development of students. This role focuses on providing individualized behavioral interventions, implementing behavior management plans, and promoting positive behavior in the classroom and throughout the school environment. The Behavior Interventionist collaborates with educators and families to create supportive strategies that help students succeed academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities:

Behavioral Support & Intervention:
- Assess and monitor students with behavioral challenges, developing individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
- Provide direct support to students with emotional and behavioral needs through one-on-one interventions or small group sessions.
- Implement evidence-based strategies to reduce disruptive behaviors and promote positive behaviors in students.
- Support students in developing social skills, self-regulation, and coping mechanisms.

Collaboration & Consultation:
- Work closely with teachers, school counselors, and administrators to create and implement effective behavior management strategies.
- Provide guidance to teachers and staff on managing challenging behaviors in the classroom.
- Collaborate with families to share strategies and offer support in addressing behavioral concerns at home and in school.

Behavioral Data Collection & Monitoring:
- Collect and analyze data related to student behavior and progress on behavioral goals.
- Track and document behavioral incidents and provide detailed reports to teachers, administrators, and families.
- Monitor the effectiveness of behavior intervention strategies and make adjustments as necessary.

Professional Development:
- Provide training and professional development to staff on behavior management techniques, de-escalation strategies, and creating positive classroom environments.
- Stay informed about current research and best practices in behavior intervention and share this knowledge with staff.

Crisis Management:
- Provide support in crisis situations, including de-escalating conflict or disruptive behavior and ensuring the safety of students and staff.
- Assist in developing and implementing school-wide behavioral protocols and crisis response plans.

Promote Positive School Culture:
- Help create a positive school environment by promoting respect, responsibility, and social-emotional learning.
- Encourage and support the implementation of school-wide behavior expectations and systems of positive reinforcement.
Qualifications:

Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Education, Social Work, or related field (Master's preferred).
- Certification or training in behavior intervention strategies is a plus (e.g., Applied Behavior Analysis or Crisis Prevention).

Experience:
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working with students with behavioral and emotional needs, ideally in an educational setting.
- Experience with behavioral assessments, developing and implementing BIPs, and using data to monitor progress.

Skills & Abilities:
- Strong understanding of behavior management principles, interventions, and social-emotional learning.
- Ability to work effectively with students, families, and school staff.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with students and collaborate with staff.
- Strong problem-solving and crisis management skills.
- Knowledge of educational technology tools to support behavior tracking and communication.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position, typically during school hours.
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required for meetings or family conferences.
