Job Summary : We are seeking a dedicated, professional, and compassionate School Counselor to support the academic, emotional, social, and behavioral growth of students. The School Counselor will work closely with students, families, teachers, and school staff to foster a positive school environment, address students' individual needs, and ensure that every student has the support and resources they need to succeed both academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities :
- Individual Counseling : Provide individual counseling to students on issues such as personal development, emotional regulation, mental health, conflict resolution, family changes, and academic concerns.
- Group Counseling : Facilitate small group sessions focused on social-emotional skills, peer relationships, study strategies, stress management, self-esteem, and career exploration.
- Academic Support : Work with students, teachers, and parents to develop strategies for overcoming academic challenges, setting realistic goals, and improving study habits and organizational skills.
- Crisis Intervention : Act quickly and appropriately to provide support during emergencies or crises, ensuring students' immediate needs are met and connecting them with further resources as necessary.
- Collaboration and Consultation : Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to develop and implement student support plans. Provide input on educational plans, behavioral interventions, and student progress.
- Parent and Family Engagement : Regularly communicate with parents and guardians about student well-being, academic progress, and available resources. Offer counseling support for families experiencing challenges.
- School-Wide Programs : Develop, implement, and oversee school-wide initiatives that promote positive mental health, inclusivity, and a positive school climate.
- Referral Services : Identify students who may need additional support and make referrals to outside resources, including mental health professionals, community agencies, and specialists.
- Record Keeping and Documentation : Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions, assessments, referrals, and communications with students, parents, and staff, in compliance with school and district policies.
- Professional Development : Engage in professional development to stay current on trends in counseling, student mental health, educational support strategies, and relevant legal and ethical issues.
