Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive, engaging, and age-appropriate lesson plans that align with curriculum standards.
- Provide instruction in key subjects, including literacy (reading and writing), math, social studies, and science.
- Foster a classroom environment that promotes respect, responsibility, and emotional growth.
- Use a variety of teaching strategies to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
- Conduct regular assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction as necessary to support student growth.
- Provide targeted support for students who need additional assistance in specific areas of learning.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to share updates on student progress, areas of growth, and any concerns.
- Promote the development of social skills, teamwork, and positive behavior within the classroom.
- Create and maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
- Incorporate technology in the classroom to enhance learning opportunities and engagement (e.g., educational apps, interactive tools, and digital resources).
- Participate in school-wide events, professional development opportunities, and collaborative team meetings.
- Model and encourage a love for learning, curiosity, and a growth mindset in students.
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification in LA for Elementary Education or enrollment in an approved alternative certification program.
- Proven experience teaching first grade or working with early elementary-aged children (preferred).
- Knowledge of early childhood development and best practices in elementary education.
- Strong classroom management skills, with the ability to create a positive and respectful classroom culture.
- Ability to differentiate instruction and tailor lessons to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Passion for working with young learners and fostering their academic, social, and emotional growth.
- Experience with educational technology tools (e.g., Google Classroom, Seesaw, etc.).
- Experience in integrating STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) concepts into the curriculum.
