Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate lesson plans in science and social studies that align with curriculum standards and foster a love of learning.
- Teach key science concepts including life cycles, ecosystems, matter, weather, and basic physical science.
- Explore social studies topics such as communities, geography, history, and cultural awareness.
- Create a classroom environment that encourages inquiry, exploration, and collaboration among students.
- Integrate technology into lessons to support learning, enhance engagement, and provide real-world connections (e.g., using digital resources, interactive whiteboards, and online learning platforms).
- Utilize a variety of teaching strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students, including hands-on experiments, group projects, and multimedia resources.
- Assess student understanding regularly through formative assessments, projects, and interactive activities, adjusting instruction as needed to support student growth.
- Foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills by encouraging students to ask questions, make predictions, and draw conclusions.
- Encourage positive social behaviors, respect for others, and collaboration during group activities.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and achievements.
- Participate in team meetings and collaborate with other educators to share resources and teaching strategies.

- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification in LA for Elementary Education or enrollment in an approved alternative certification program.
- Proven experience teaching science and social studies to elementary students (preferred).
- Strong understanding of basic science concepts and social studies topics relevant to young learners.
- Experience with or openness to integrating technology into the classroom (e.g., using digital resources, educational apps, interactive tools, and online platforms).
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the varying needs of students.
- A passion for teaching science and social studies and inspiring young learners to explore their world.
- Ability to foster a classroom culture that values inquiry, respect, and curiosity.
- Experience with digital learning platforms (e.g., Google Classroom, Seesaw, etc.).
- Familiarity with science and social studies-based educational apps and tools (e.g., BrainPOP, Discovery Education, or interactive science simulations).
- Willingness to explore and learn new technologies to enrich the learning experience for students.
