We are now accepting resumes / applications for EXPERIENCED STRUCTURAL FITTERS for the Thibodaux, LA and surrounding area. Duties / Responsibilities may / may not be limited to the following :
The basic function of the structural fitter is responsible for putting metal parts together to create a finished sheet or structural metal project. They use tools such as jacks, pry bars, hammers, saws, welding equipment or torches, and files or grinders to fit the parts exactly.

Position Requirements :3 - 5 years fitter work-related experience (Aluminum preferred)
MUST have lay-out and fitting experience with misc. metal & structural steelMUST HAVE VALID LICENSEHigh school diploma or GED equivalent is required.MUST be able to pass physicalMUST be able to pass drug screenMUST be able to pass background checkMUST have reliable transportationMUST be able to provide own welding shield & PPE (Hard hat, steel toe boots, safety glasses, & gloves.)Required Skills :Must be able to read and understand blueprint drawings.
Excellent math skills with ability to efficiently read a tape measureExcellent problem-solving skillsExcellent communication skillsDemonstrate strong work ethicDemonstrate consistency in quality of workDuties / Responsibilities :May layout and mark weld points on parts or subassemblies using ruler, square, scribe or templates
Fabricate, assemble, and install structural steel products such as beams, braces, pipes, and plates for offshore drilling jackets and decks;Use Come-a-longs, chain falls, and other industry tools and equipment, and install, use, and remove stop plates, dogs, and pad eyes.Positions pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides and steps using measuring instruments and hand toolsClamps, holds, tack-welds, grinds, and bolts components to position for welding.Examine workpieces for defects and measure workpieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.Operates cutting equipment including torches and various power and hand toolsRemove rough spots from workpieces, using portable grinders, hand files, or scrapers.Safely operates iron worker, grinders, overhead cranes, rigging, pipe threading machine, welding machine, and various pneumatic hand toolsAssembly of components with some fabrication of equipment needed for the job with minimal supervisionMange housekeeping activities when requested.Maintain the work area clean, safe and organized.
Assist in waste disposal and recycling activitiesCleanup work area and equipment after work is completed.Execute daily work instructions received from Supervisor in a timely manner.Work effectively to meet or exceed productivity goals while maintaining high quality standards.Practice safety procedures in accordance with training and guidelines when working.
Comply with company policies and legal guidelines, helping to maintain a safe and orderly work environmentMeet quality and performance requirements as outlined by quality assurance and production standardsReport safety hazards, quality, and production issues to management immediatelyPhysical Requirements :Must be able to lift up to 50 LBS
Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, squat, or kneel regularly, as well as climb stairs and ladders to complete tasks.Ability to work in varying hot and cold environmentsAbility to work in cramped and / or confined spaces when required
Ability to work in an environment with exposures to dust, dirt and various other debris, metal and paint fumes, gasesWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to high, precarious places and outside weather conditionsThe employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shockDocuments Required :Driver's License / Identification Card
