Job Summary
Under the direction of the Plant Manager, the Maintenance and Automation Manager is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day maintenance and repairs of the Plant Automation and Maintenance departments including equipment maintenance, minimizing downtime, supporting new equipment installs, training and development of staff, and driving continuous improvements in the department and the plant.
Essential Functions:
Drive a successful preventative maintenance program. Ensure that proper preventive and or predictive maintenance is being performed on all key Plant equipment. Review work order backlog weekly and assign projects/repairs by priority. Ensure machine/equipment repair records are maintained by department personnel in the CMMS program.
Monitor departmental performances for efficiency and effectiveness. Develop and drive improvements to KPI's. Drive departmental and plant improvement projects. Support the development and execution of Plant strategies.
Ensure that necessary spare parts are in stock for key process equipment, including tooling, by employing preset reorder points, & reorder quantities on the Maintenance software program. Work with contractors/vendors on receiving quotations/services or materials.
Work with other departments/groups to provide resolution to various issues within the company.
Monitor operating & capital expenditures to ensure the department stays within the allotted budget. Maintain appropriate staffing levels.
Ensure that the manufacturing and automation and maintenance areas are kept in a safe working condition. Ensure that the Lock Out/Tag Out Program and other safety policies are being followed.
Responsible for time and attendance reporting, completing performance/competency evaluations, competency/training logs, and providing feedback, motivation, and disciplinary actions for employees in assigned departments.
Ensure that employees in department(s) comply with all plant rules and Health, Safety, and Regulatory programs.
Implement/assist in setting up specific training programs.
Assist in maintaining HellermannTyton IATF16949/ISO14001 certification by supporting corporate policies, procedures, work instructions, and required documentation.
Other Functions
Ensure that all machines are properly guarded. Safety switches and safety interlocks are working properly.
Ensure that documented procedures are followed.
Attend classes or seminars of relevance as necessary.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications (skills, knowledge, experience)
Associate's degree or Technical degree and 4 years of maintenance/automation management, prior appropriate work experience in a related field is required. Bachelor's degree in a technical field with 10 years of professional experience preferred.
Excellent mechanical aptitude with a strong knowledge base in electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC & mechanical repairs. Maintenance/Automation Management experience in injection molding preferred. Automation and robots’ maintenance experience.
Experience with preventive & predictive maintenance practices and experience using a Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS
Experience with measuring and improving performance within a manufacturing and maintenance/automations department. Strong problem-solving skills
Ability to read prints and drawings.
Basic to advanced PC skills and knowledge including the ability to use various software programs.
Exceptional written & verbal communication skills.
Capable of leading & motivating people.
Ability to interact with others within the organization to meet corporate goals & objectives.
Must have a valid driver's license, with an acceptable driving record, along with adequate insurance.
