Job Summary
Under the direction of the Manufacturing Team Supervisor, the Automation Operator is responsible for maintaining and monitoring automated systems and processes to ensure smooth and efficient operations. The Automation Operator will respond to automated system alarms, monitor automated packaging cells, maintain packaging supplies in assigned work areas, and perform basic troubleshooting. This will be achieved by maintaining HellermannTyton's certifications by supporting all corporate policies, procedures, work instructions and required documentation.

The Automation Operator will respond to automated system alarms, monitor automated packaging cells, maintain packaging supplies in assigned work areas, and perform basic troubleshooting. Essential Functions:
- Respond to automated system alarms to correct material flow issues, clear jams, or other adjustments to ensure efficient operation.
- Perform basic troubleshooting of the automated packaging cells to include mechanical and computer system issues and escalating to the Automation department as appropriate.
- Monitor and maintain the proper inventory levels of packaging supplies, such as bags and printer ribbons, and partner with Shipping and Receiving for material needs.
- Monitor and replace seal element and seal tape as well as maintain label printers to ensure efficient operation as needed.
- Change and verify labels and date codes when there is a production changeover as needed.
- Respond to inquiries and communicate with other company personnel using the company provided radio as well as follow radio etiquette and policy on a daily basis.
- Understand and follow the company's container collection procedure.
- Communicate all quality and/or process issues to Manufacturing Team Supervisor, Automation Technicians, Process Technicians, and other necessary support departments.
- Complete routine housekeeping to ensure that the automation areas are clean and organize on a daily basis.
- Adhere to all safety regulations, such as PPE as well as all company policies and procedures.
- Assist with maintaining HellermannTyton's Quality System certification by supporting corporate policies, procedures, work instructions, and required documentation.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Assist with Packaging Operator duties as needed.
- Enter all downtime and scrap codes accurately for future analysis using the Process Monitoring System (Mattec) as needed.
- Complete all company required training.
- Knowledge of the operation of all automated packaging cells.
- Knowledge of production procedures and work instructions.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.
- Knowledge of quality system and procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalency required.
- Prior experience with machine operation or manufacturing preferred.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools preferred.
- Familiarity with computers and ability to perform basic data entry.
- Ability to perform basic math.
- Ability read, write and follow written instructions in the English language.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to work overtime on a daily and/or rotating weekend basis to meet the needs of our customers.
- Ability to work non-standard hours occasionally to met the needs of our customers.
- Good physical stamina and hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs daily.
- Ability to stand and walk for 8 hours or more daily.
