Under general supervision, the AGVS Logistics Technician is responsible for collecting soiled linen, retrieving carts, and maintaining the send-and-receive rooms for the Automated Guided Vehicle System in the designated areas of the Medical Center. Responsibilities include all areas impacted by the AGVS including patient care areas, plaza interstitial, case cart area, and soiled dock. The position will perform various physical tasks, like pushing and pulling case carts, breaking down boxes, resetting carts on detents, clearing pathways for AGVs, and documenting productivity and other data queries. Responsible for ensuring that the assigned area is maintained to meet quality standards. The AGVS Log technician is accountable for training teammates, safety, security, and various tasks as assigned.
Primary Duties:
• Works in conjunction with Lead Technician and/or Automated Guided Vehicle traffic system throughout the Medical Center from the AGVS computer. Takes corrective action when encountering equipment malfunctions.
• Ensures that all Send rooms have appropriate carts and are aligned on detent correctly. Will utilize AGVS radio channel to report missing carts or system errors to Lead Technician.
• Ensures that all AGVS Receive rooms are clear of debris, clutter, and furniture. Reports all large/bulky items to facilities and safely disposes any small item.
• Removes trash/infectious waste/soiled linen from various locations including but not limited to the patient care areas, Plaza and Street Levels. Utilizes installed terminal to send carts. Occasionally will have to manually move carts depending on department need.
• Receives communication from the AGVS Lead technician about errors in assigned area. Monitors Automated Guided vehicle traffic in the assigned areas, clearing any obstruction in the vehicle's path. Utilizes CSMC AGVS radio channel. Upholds CSMC values and always utilizes professional communication.
• Occasionally interacts with external departments and communicates with AGVS Lead Technician or remedies request if possible. Utilizes radio system. Ensures that method of communication is always accessible.
• Monitors department equipment and machinery and reports defects. Reports defects in the functionality of all: AGV, Chargers, Sensors, Elevators, Compactors, Tippers, Cart washers, Sterilizers. Carts, and Computers., Radios, Joysticks, flat beds.
• Ensures standards are met in assigned area. Reports to AGVS Lead technician and/or supervisor occurrences that do not meet department standards.
• Assist other team members when assigned areas are cleared. Reports to AGVS Lead technician for direction.
• Other duties as assigned. Minor repairs, working on dock or in AGVS areas as a logistics technician, breaking down cardboard, keeping work space clean and orderly, involvement in hospital safety testing or implementation.
• Escalates issues to appropriate supervisor.
Requirements: 2 years supply Chain/Logistics, preferably in a healthcare setting
