Program Overview:The H.U.G. The Reading Program is dedicated to improving literacy and educational outcomes for underserved children across Kentucky. By providing tutoring and literacy support, we aim to close educational gaps and help students succeed academically. As a part of the AmeriCorps VISTA program, the Kentucky Technical Coordinator will play a crucial role in enhancing the technical infrastructure and ensuring program participants have access to the tools and resources needed for success.
Position Summary:The Kentucky Technical Coordinator will provide technical support and development for the H.U.G. Reading Program. This includes managing and improving the digital tools and systems used for tutoring, tracking student progress, and coordinating virtual literacy sessions. The coordinator will also provide training for tutors, teachers, and students to ensure that technology is being utilized effectively to advance literacy goals. The ideal candidate has a strong background in technology, education, and community outreach.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and enhance the digital platforms used for virtual tutoring, including online learning management systems (LMS), video conferencing tools, and progress-tracking databases.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and provide hands-on support for tutors, students, and staff to ensure seamless program delivery.
- Develop and implement technology training sessions for program participants and volunteers to maximize the use of available digital tools.
- Coordinate the integration of educational software and resources that promote literacy development.
- Analyze data and generate reports on student progress to support program evaluation and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with program leadership to identify and implement new technologies that can enhance the effectiveness and scalability of the reading program.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science Information Technology, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience with educational technology platforms, databases, and virtual learning tools.
- Knowledge in AWS, Salesforce, and any other coding languages preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues in real time.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to train and support individuals of varying technological proficiency.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively.
- A passion for literacy, education, and helping underserved communities.
