What You'll Do:
The Senior Grant Accountant will be responsible for accurately monitoring, analyzing, and maintaining financial transactions for programs funded by Federal, State, City, and Private grants. Analyze and prepare financial reports with various reporting periods. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the Director of Accounting as needed to support department goals.
Your responsibilities will include:
Develop and implement strategies for improving financial management and reporting processes.
Ensure accurate and timely processing of grant-related financial transactions.
Ensure the system maintains comprehensive records of all grant-related financial activities.
Monitor grant expenditures and ensure they align with approved budgets and grant agreements.
Prepare monthly financial reports and analysis narratives for HELP USA Fund and Program Operations teams.
Ensure all necessary monthly, quarterly, and semi-annual reports are completed for internal and/or external stakeholders.
Prepare and submit budgets, allocation changes, invoices, and schedules in accordance with funder guidelines.
Collaborate with the HELP USA Fund and Program Development to prepare and manage grant budgets.
Generate financial reports for grantors, ensuring accuracy and compliance with grant requirements.
Prepare for and assist with funder and organizational audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
Ensure accurate categorization of revenue (unrestricted, temporarily restricted, and permanently restricted)
Release restricted revenue in line with grant terms when restrictions are lifted.
Enter transactions into accounting software and perform monthly reconciliation with the development system/team.
Prepare reclassification and grant reconciliation to maintain accurate ledgers.
Perform Bank Reconciliations.
You’re a great fit for this role if you have:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
Minimum of 5 years of related experience, preferably two years in general accounting and three years in grant accounting.
Previous fiscal work experience within NYC, NYS, Federal, and Private grants
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Salary : $70,000 - $80,000
