Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team. In this role, you will provide support and guidance to individuals struggling with substance use disorders. You will work collaboratively with clients to develop personalized treatment plans, facilitate group and individual counseling sessions, and help clients navigate their recovery journey in our SAIOP & SACOT Intensive Outpatient Program. Your expertise in behavioral health and addiction health will be essential in fostering a supportive environment that promotes healing and growth.
Requirement
- Must be certified as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) or CSAC
Responsibilities
- Provide psycho-education classes.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients to determine their needs and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions focusing on substance abuse recovery strategies.
- Utilize applied behavior analysis techniques to help clients modify harmful behaviors.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with relevant regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including mental health counselors, to ensure holistic care for clients.
- Educate clients about addiction medicine, coping strategies, and relapse prevention techniques.
- Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary based on ongoing evaluations.
- Write and submit progress notes and documentation as required.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of addiction medicine and behavioral health principles.
- Experience in mental health counseling, particularly in a hospital or clinical setting.
- Familiarity with behavior management techniques to effectively support client needs.
- Ability to manage medical records while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with regulations.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with clients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Empathy and patience in working with individuals facing challenging circumstances related to substance abuse.
