Job Overview
A paraprofessional in behavioral health provides direct care and support to individuals receiving mental health and/or substance use services in a community-based setting under the supervision of licensed professionals. They assist with activities of daily living, promote safety and well-being, and may contribute to treatment plans. Their role is to support engagement in treatment, teach coping skills, and connect clients with resources.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct Care:
Assisting with daily living tasks like personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
- Safety and Support:
Monitoring clients, providing emotional support, and assisting in crisis situations.
- Treatment Support:
Participating in therapy sessions, documenting observations, and assisting with milieu activities.
- Communication and Collaboration:
Reporting changes in client status, attending meetings with the treatment team, and communicating with families or caregivers.
- Skill Building:
Teaching coping, problem-solving, and self-management skills.
- Administrative Tasks:
Maintaining records, writing notes/documentation, and managing administrative duties.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience working with individuals with mental illness or substance use disorder is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage challenging behaviors in a calm, respectful, and compassionate manner.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.

Pay: $30,091.00 - $37,462.00 per year
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
