Reports To Director of Prevention Services
Qualifications Full-time position with 100% of the time dedicated to the Drug-Free Communities grant. The salary will be based on experience. Classified as Exempt.
BA/BS in Social Work, Psychology, Nursing, Health Promotion, Education, or a related field. Certified Prevention Specialist or willing to become certified within 2 years of the date of hire. Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends when needed. Ability to travel in the service area, overnight within the State of Iowa, and nationally for training. Strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills including public speaking. Proficient in basic computer skills. Ability to exercise good judgment and leadership in a variety of situations. EOE. - Comply with the policies and procedures set by the agency and program.
- Support agency electronic communication for currency and accuracy.
- Check in regularly with the Supervisor and participate in an annual evaluation process.
Program
- Implement the Strategic Prevention Framework (a prevention model) including assessment, capacity building, planning, implementing, and evaluating the prevention strategies and programs while including cultural competence and sustainability efforts.
- Assist in the implementation of the grant action plan
- Work closely with the Healthy Delaware County Coalition, youth groups within the schools, Public Health, schools administration, law enforcement, and community members.
- Electronic outreach/education such as Facebook, Instagram, email, and website communication.
- Understand how substance use prevention relates to other disciplines and demonstrate the ability to collaborate within other fields as well as working across agency program divisions.
- Understand and adapt to service changes in the field at the national, state, or local levels.
- Connect program participants to community resources as applicable.
- Participate in initial and ongoing training and mentoring of new staff and volunteers.
- Know and understand the Iowa and federal laws as well as surrounding state laws on substance use and control as it pertains to prevention.
- Participate in the agency needs assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and grant writing as coordinated by the Program Director or Executive Director.
- Perform other duties as requested by the Program Director or Executive Director.
