What are the responsibilities and job description for the VP of Market Risk - Power & Gas position at Hemans.?
My client is an international commodity firm with offices all over the world. Their US footprint is growing rapidly, and as such, they are looking to continue expanding their US operation, with a specific focus on their front office and risk functions.
This is a role that will come with significant advancement opportunities, reporting into the Global Head of Market Risk who is based in Europe.
You will have ownership and autonomy in your role!
Key responsibilities:
- Identify, assess, and monitor risks related to U.S. Power and Gas operations.
- Develop and manage risk reports to track critical risk factors, updating them as market dynamics shift.
- Utilize Python programming, manage databases, and create visual dashboards (e.g., Tableau/Power BI) to effectively display key metrics.
- Oversee the creation, evolution, and communication of risk reporting frameworks.
- Collaborate closely with team members and maintain open communication with trading desks to stay informed about current positions and market trends.
- Establish and monitor predictive scenarios to provide insights into portfolio risks and inform management and traders of market-driven positioning changes.
- Design and execute targeted stress tests to analyze potential impacts of adverse market conditions and present findings to senior risk management and commercial teams.
- Evaluate various transactions through modeling and in-depth analysis.
Position requirements:
- Experience in US Power and US Gas.
- Specific experience in Market Risk.
- Strong coding skills, especially in Python.
- Strong communicator, comfortable working closely with traders and senior leadership regularly, working with a large amount of autonomy.
