Hematology Oncology Associates was established in Palm Beach County over 35 years ago, and has grown to include 10 Board Certified Hematologist and Oncologists and 6 Nurse Practitioners in 3 convenient locations within our community. Our goals are to provide state of the art cancer treatments with a high level of compassionate care in a warm inviting environment. We also specialize in treatment of coagulation blood disorders, leukemias and other hematologic benign conditions. Job Description:
- Supervise, guide, and mentor nursing staff on the unit, ensuring adherence to policies and standards.
- Provide leadership in coordinating nursing care during shifts, helping to allocate tasks to appropriate team members.
- Assist in the training and orientation of new staff or nurses.
- Oversee patient care delivery, ensuring that all patients receive appropriate care in accordance with their medical needs.
- Monitor patient progress, assist in developing discharge plans, and provide hands-on care.
- Monitor the performance of nursing staff, providing feedback, and supporting their professional development.
- Address any issues related to staff performance or patient care and escalate them when necessary.
- Ensure that nurses follow clinical protocols and best practices.
- Conduct patient assessments, supervise patient treatments, and ensure proper documentation of all medical records.
- Ensure patient safety by adhering to infection control protocols, monitoring medication administration, and ensuring proper use of medical equipment.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to improve patient outcomes and departmental efficiency.
- Address issues or conflicts among staff, patients, or families, providing solutions to ensure a positive working and care environment.
- Make decisions on urgent matters, including staffing shortages or changes in care plans.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare team members regarding patient care and treatment.
- Provide clear instructions to the nursing team and relay any changes in patient conditions or care plans.
- Assist in maintaining inventory, ordering supplies, and ensuring the unit is equipped to provide optimal care.
