Position Overview:
HEMI Systems is looking to fill multiple first shift fabricator positions at our shop in Maysville GA. The CNC Machine Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining CNC machines to produce high-quality parts in an industrial fabrication shop environment. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision. The CNC Machine Operator will read and interpret blueprints, set up and load CNC machines, and ensure the smooth running of operations to meet production schedules and maintain high standards of quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Machine Operation: Operate CNC machines (Lincoln Python X, Ocean Avenger Drill Line) to fabricate parts according to specifications and design drawings.
- Setup and Calibration: Set up CNC machines by selecting and installing appropriate tooling, adjusting machine settings, and ensuring correct alignment and calibration for optimal performance.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and work orders to understand job requirements.
- Quality Control: Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gauges) to ensure they meet quality standards and tolerances.
- Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Perform routine maintenance on machines, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn parts. Troubleshoot and resolve any machine malfunctions or issues that may arise during production.
- Programming Assistance: Assist with basic CNC programming, such as editing and modifying existing programs for new jobs or adjustments to current runs.
- Inventory Management: Maintain inventory of materials, tools, and supplies, and report shortages or needed replacements to the supervisor.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and ensure that all equipment is operated in a safe and secure manner.
- Collaboration: Work closely with team members, engineers, and supervisors to meet production goals and resolve any issues that may arise during the fabrication process.
- Continuous Improvement: Suggest and implement improvements in processes, machine efficiency, and product quality.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience operating CNC machines in a fabrication or manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of CNC machine functions.
- Experience with basic CNC programming or machine setup is an advantage.
- Familiarity with precision measuring tools.
- Knowledge of safety standards in a fabrication or machining environment.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Technical training or certification in CNC operation or machining is a plus.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move heavy materials (up to 60Lbs). Ability to stand for long periods and work in a noisy, fast-paced environment.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position with potential for overtime.
- Work will be performed in a shop setting, requiring the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.
- Potential exposure to noise, dust, and fumes common in a fabrication environment.
