Key Responsibilities:
- Provide forward leaning, steady development of the highest quality STEM education programs in the state of Michigan.
- Continue to develop partnerships with educational institutions, and businesses.
- Expand regional STEM teacher training programs like the High Tech Talent Initiative pilot program delivered in 2025.
- Collaborate with the staff and administration of Hemlock Public Schools to create a cohesive and innovative learning program for the 2025/2026 school year.
- Publish articles detailing the successes and challenges facing STEM educators drawing upon experiences working with teachers and through insights gleaned by working with students.
- Serve as the Lead Mentor (Head Coach) for Hemlock’s Gray Matter FIRST Robotics Competition team, providing mentorship, guidance, and leadership to students as they compete at state and national events.
- Serve as a role model and advisor for students seeking science, technology and engineering careers.
- Assist in developing branding, promotional materials and social media assets that reflect the profile of the STEM Center and the Director.
- Support and promote the growth of the Lockwood STEM Center as a hub for student and teacher learning, creativity, and achievement.
- Develop curriculum, programming, and deliver it to our K-12 students.
- Lead significant fundraising efforts leveraging the status of Hemlock Public Schools and the Lockwood STEM Alliance, a 501(c)(3) corporation.
Required Qualifications:
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate or otherwise be able to secure licensing.
- Experience in STEAM or STEM programs, curriculum development, and instruction.
- Proficiency with various assessment tools and strategies.
- Meet the definition of a Highly Qualified Teacher as per federal regulations.
- Must pass all required background checks and fingerprinting.
Job Requirements, Knowledge, and Skills, a successful candidate should be able to demonstrate:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong science, technology, engineering, and computer science background.
- Proven history of successful fundraising.
- Experience working collaboratively as part of a professional learning team.
- Develop strategies to enhance student achievement in core content areas.
Salary: Anticipated range, $50-75k base incentivized grant or fund procurement monies.
