HEAD VARSITY VOLLEYBALL COACH

Required Qualifications:
- Successful coaching experience, preferably at the high school level.
- HPSD certified professional educators desired but not required. HPSD certified staff will be given first consideration (automatic interview).
- Alternate qualifications may be considered.
§ Meet requirements for a background check and fingerprinting.
Job Requirements, Knowledge, and Skills:
§ Background that includes a high level of volleyball knowledge.
§ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
§ Knowledge of best practices in coaching.
§ Experience working as part of a collaborative team.
A successful candidate will be able to:
§ Relate to and instruct student athletes in large groups, small groups, and individualized settings.
§ Develop and use strategies to improve individual and team play.
- Work cooperatively with administration and staff.
- Encourage student participation in the sport.
- Instruct, coordinate, and direct all assistant coaches, 7th thru 12th grade.
§ Use formative and summative assessments to guide instruction.
§ Effectively utilize classroom discipline strategies while providing positive reinforcement.
- Possess strong organizational, motivational, discipline and fundamental teaching skills.
- Direct, construct a program and oversee the program as a whole.
- Work with other coaches by supporting and encouraging students to participate in other sports.
- Communicate with players, parents, and other coaches.
§ Contribute to a professional learning team of varsity coaches.
§ Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure student success and a positive school climate.
Salary: As per negotiated district contract.
