What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intern, Assay Development position at HemoSonics, LLC?
PURPOSE OF POSITION
This is a paid full-summer internship offering full-time on-site work experience performing laboratory testing for an in vitro diagnostic Point of Care (POC) system during the summer months. In addition to the experience gained through their team, and the other opportunities provided during their time at HemoSonics, all interns are required to conclude the program by giving a formal presentation on their work.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with an interdisciplinary team, under the direction of the Assay Development Manager on various projects, which could possibly include:
- Test in vitro diagnostics reagents and controls following established procedures.
- Maintain accurate and careful documentation, as required under a regulated environment.
- Write, schedule, organize and execute experimental protocols
- Assist in studies to develop product formulations
- Assemble and analyze data, summarize results, and write a report on their work.
- Give a formal presentation on their work at the conclusion of the program.
- Conduct activities in compliance with laboratory safety and good laboratory practices.

- Familiar with basic laboratory testing techniques.

- Effective analytical and quantitative skills.
- Ability to work effectively on an interdisciplinary team.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- Self-starting, self-motivated and capable of working independently when necessary.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Currently enrolled student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering, biochemistry, medical technology, or a related field.
