As a Regulatory Affairs Manager at Hempel, you are responsible for managing the regulatory compliance aspects of the assigned operation to meet both governmental as well as customer requirements.

- Understand TSCA Regulatory Compliance and Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) New Substance Notification requirements.
- Responsible for maintaining chemical/substance regulatory compliance in USA, Canada, Mexico, and South America.
- Manage substance/product registration and compliance for new product development activities, including country-specific substance notifications. (i.e. US TSCA PMNs, LVEs, CEPA NSNs).
- Coordinate with R&D, Production, and Commercial teams to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to product compliance (VOC/HAP), FDA Title 21, hazard communications (including in-lab), and labeling.
- Coordinate annual reporting such as Annual Establishment Pesticides Reports, Rule 314 Annual Quantity and Emissions Report (AQER) for Architectural Coatings; AIM individual state reporting & Rule 1143 Consumer Paint Thinners & Multi-Purpose Solvents Annual Quantity & Emission Report.
- Proactively Monitor and interpret (existing and developing) chemical/substance regulations and assess impact on business to provide proactive and timely advice/guidance.
- Prepare all necessary information/documentation for the launch of a new or optimized product or import of new product to the region and sign off HSE Evaluation forms.
- Work with Global Regulatory team to monitor, create and modify as required product literatures activities related to regulatory.
- Manage the raw material code system by assessing the hazard risks of new materials, ensuring compliance with OSHA SDS requirements, entering new codes and updates into relevant databases, and reviewing and updating exposure limits.
- Monitor production for VOC compliance. Record and track all exceptions, calculate exceedance fees and report, as required (National VOC Emissions Standards for Architectural Coatings or AIM).
- Review information resources (including electronic resources) regularly for regulatory changes.
- Represent Hempel Americas in industry associations and consortia technical / regulatory committees.
- Maintain internal health hazard data file (SDS) for both products and raw materials.
- Function as a point of contact for product literature (AQDS, SDS, EDS, VOC Data Sheet) related questions from customers.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Science, Technology, or Engineering fields.
- 10 years of experience in the coatings, chemical, or regulatory industries.
- Proficient computer skills including MS Office proficiency.
- Strong ability to conduct independent research and lead projects effectively.
- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Willing to work onsite Monday through Friday at our Conroe location, with every other Friday off.
- Proficient in English and proficient in Spanish or Portuguese.
- Knowledge of Mexico Labeling / Marking Requirement, CARB, SCAQMD, EPA, TSCA & DSL regulations.
