What are the responsibilities and job description for the Park Maintenance Worker I position at HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP?
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
The Park Maintenance position duties will include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of park grounds, facilities, and Athletic Complex.
- Maintain sidewalks, tracks, and parking lots from snow and ice in winter months.
- Coordinate planting and layout of all park landscaping.
- Responsible for turf management such as mowing, aerating, fertilizing, top dressing, edging and weed spraying on athletic fields.
- Maintain athletic activity areas, maintain fences, benches, drinking fountains, sidewalks, restrooms and general repairs.
- Maintain and repair playground equipment including daily basic safety checks.
- Operate and/or drives a variety of light and heavy equipment as directed.
- Prepare pavilions and fields for rentals and events.
- Provide support for other Parks & Recreation or Township events.
- Develop and implement assessment tools for various departmental programs, collect and analyze data, and deliver recommendations to the Director of Parks & Recreation and/or Township Manager.
- Participate in committee work for the department and/or Township as deemed appropriate by the Director of Parks & Recreation and/or Township Manager.
- Provide other services and perform other tasks as requested or assigned by the Assistant Director/Director of Parks & Recreation and/or Township Manager.
