Job Description
Under the direction of the Henderson Child Care Director and consistent with the mission and values of the Henderson Child Development Center, the Child Care
Assistant is responsible for the daily supervision of children and implementation of daily activities.
Qualifications
This position requires an individual with an enthusiastic personality who can develop harmonious and professional relationships with children and parents.
1. Minimum age of 18.
2. Adult and child CPR or CPR/PR, First Aid, and AED Certifications within 30 days of hire date.
3. Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
4. A commitment to working with children in a developmental setting and a sincere desire to have a meaningful effect on their lives.
5. Able to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Working Conditions
1. Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time.
2. Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
3. Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight.
4. Must be able to lift and carry supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
5. Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time.
6. Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.
7. Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.
8. Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.
9. Ability to work during program hours.
10.Fluent in English, written and verbal communication.
Essential Functions
1. Assist with the development and implementation of daily plans and activities.
2. Assist in supervising children and participate with children in activities.
3. Maintain program site and equipment.
4. Communicate with parents on an ongoing basis and assist with parent conferences.
5. Assist with daily observations and child evaluations.
6. Provide guidance for children’s behavior.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $12.75 - $14.00 per hour
