What are the responsibilities and job description for the Contracts Counsel position at Henderson Companies?
The Contracts Counsel has primary responsibility for reviewing and negotiating agreements for the organization and builds strong relationships internally and externally to promote the organization’s interests in regard to contract procedures and its preferred terms.
Duties:
Draft, review and negotiate engineering, construction and general business agreements
Advise leadership on legal issues and risks with contracts
Collaborate with key team members including project managers, clients and counsel to negotiate favorable contract terms
Ensure final contracts show all appropriate changes
Understand the Company’s insurance policies as they apply to projects and contracts
Identify and escalate contract risks
Help project teams understand contract risks using relatable terminology
Administer, develop and maintain form agreements
Assist in maintaining archive of agreements and contractual language
Assist in obtaining executed versions of agreements
Conduct legal research on contract matters
Qualifications Required:
Must possess a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited US law school
Requires admission to the bar in the state of Kansas, or ability to be admitted under Kansas Supreme Court Rule 712
Minimum of 2 years of related experience, preferably with A/E/C industry contracts
Experience reviewing complex documents
