10 month, 8 hour per day position
Position Summary:
Acts as a liaison with the elementary schools, disseminates information. Responds to issues that occur with referrals, IEP development, and IEP meetings. Monitors file and procedural compliance. Works with teachers to ensure use of best practices in all EC settings. Works with school and district administrators to address service delivery issues. Provides professional development to EC staff and schools about EC topics. Performs related work as required. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the EC Director and Principal.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree with coursework in special education, or a related field.
A minimum of 5 years EC classroom experience is preferred.

Essential Duties:
- Provides support for IEP writing and IEP meetings to all elementary schools.
- Participates in regular EC department leadership team meetings.
- Monitors IEPs and IEP folders for compliance and addresses any issues that arise.
- Collaborate with EC teachers on proper goal writing, progress monitoring documentation, and other issues regarding IEP compliance.
- Respond quickly and effectively to written and oral communication to support EC staff and school administrators
- Serve as LEA Representative in IEP meetings when necessary.
- Provide planning and support for transition meetings and program placement.
- Support and implement federal, state, and local EC policies and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of special education. Thorough knowledge of the principles and methodology of effective teaching of students with disabilities. Thorough knowledge of testing manuals. Thorough knowledge of school regulations and procedures. Ability to collaborate with EC staff and regular education staff across the district. Ability to multitask. Ability to lead professional development in large and small groups. Ability to operate ECATS and PowerSchool. Ability to communicate professionally and effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff across the school system.
Physical Requirements:
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing and speaking or hearing, frequently requires walking, pushing or pulling, lifting and repetitive motions and occasionally requires sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling and reaching with hands and arms; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data and observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions and exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment.
