Henderson Engineers is seeking a Business Development Operations Director to join their team in Kansas City. A member of the corporate marketing team, the Business Development Operations Director provides oversight andstrategic direction on account planning, opportunity management, new business development, and reporting/analytics ona company-wide level. They partner with the development committee, operations committee, sector executives, engineering operations leadership, and business development managers and directors to develop and manage the firm’s strategy for successful execution of sector sales plans and goals. In addition, they work with the Chief Strategy Officer and Sr. Marketing & Business Development Director to create, prepare, and implement annual business planning. This position has managerial responsibility for the firm’s project capture and CRM staff, and provides day-to-day management of workload, engaging in proactive planning and career development for assigned staff.

Minimum Qualifications For The Role Are

  • 10 years of progressive professional experience in marketing, business development, or sales required.
  • CRM proficiency required.
  • Proven sales and presentation skills, including experience teaching classes, mentoring, and coaching others.
  • Strong understanding of marketing strategy, social media, digital marketing, and analytics required.
  • Effective communicator, skilled in engaging with individuals at all organizational levels, including providing constructive feedback to internal audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and perform effectively under pressure.
  • Positive, collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications & Plusses

  • Minimum 5 years in a related industry such as engineering, construction, architecture, or professional services preferred.
  • Experience managing a team highly preferred.
  • High proficiency in Adobe Suite applications, particularly InDesign, preferred.
  • Familiarity with vertical markets such as venue/sports, healthcare, retail, business, and community preferred.

Skills and Duties you will be Responsible for while in this role:

Business Development Operations

  • Manages and mentors the CRM and project capture staff.
  • Oversees employee onboarding and training process and collaborates with marketing team on process improvements.
  • Assists and provides oversight on the marketing data management process in Deltek to ensure optimization and integrity of data.
  • Assists in the development of effective win strategies for high-profile pursuits.
  • Oversees business development process improvement and coordinates with other groups internally to maximize efficiency and consistency.
  • Works with marketing team to create consistency and collaboration in marketing and business development tactics and processes at the sector and regional level.
  • Assists sector and practice leadership with the creation of business development plans and budgets during annual planning season.
  • Oversees firm’s procurement process and budget with the events manager for swag and promotional items for tradeshows and events.
  • Leads the firm’s process and strategy for planning and implementing client engagement tactics for technical, business development tradeshows, and other operations tradeshows in collaboration with sector marketing teams.
  • Collaborates with sector marketing teams on the master list of all tradeshows and facilitates the decision-making process for which tradeshows are “attend only” with executive leadership groups.
  • Meets with tradeshow attendees (technical staff) to plan client engagement strategies for each show including setting up client meetings, booth coordination, after-action reports, determining collateral, etc.
  • Manages tracking and reporting of the firm’s business development budget

Corporate Leadership, Education & Training

  • Collaborates with the Sr. Marketing & Business Development Director, the Chief Strategy Officer, and the Chief Growth Officer to develop the firm’s annual business planning process, ensuring alignment with long-term corporate strategy. Partners with business line leaders to support the execution of business plans and tracks progress toward achieving sales goals, providing regular updates and insights to senior leadership to drive accountability.
  • Owns the firm’s CRM system and develops and manages the roadmap and associated training for all staff.
  • Assists with change management, communication, and adoption of best practices across company and sectors.
  • Helps lead Henderson’s business development educational efforts in conjunction with the corporate marketing leadership team.
