Henderson Engineers is seeking a Sector Marketing Director to join their team in Kansas City. The Sector Marketing Director will be a member of the corporate marketing team and the sector leadership team, the Sector Marketing Director is responsible for leading all marketing and business development efforts for one or more sectors. They lead the project pursuit effort for the sector(s), as well as Henderson’s proactive marketing efforts for the sector(s), working in collaboration with the communications and graphics team. In addition, the Sector Marketing Director organizes and runs business development events within the sector(s) that are focused on client relationship development. As part of these areas, they work with the sector leadership team on annual business planning, helping to set the overall strategy for the sector(s) they support .

Minimum Qualifications For The Role Are

  • 10 years of professional experience in marketing and business development required.
  • Self-motivated and self-driven to take ownership of marketing plans and goals.
  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Strong organizational skills; deadline-oriented with ability to multi-task with efficiency and composure.
  • Effective communicator with ability to interact with all levels of individuals, both inside and outside the organization.
  • Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Creative mindset and ability to think outside the box.
  • Strong relationship-builder who actively pursues new clients and maintains solid relationships with existing ones.
  • Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications & Plusses

  • Previous industry experience in architecture, engineering and/or construction preferred.
  • High level of proficiency in Adobe Suite Software applications, particularly InDesign preferred.
  • Experience utilizing Del-Tek Enterprise Software preferred.

Skills and Duties you will be Responsible for while in this role:

Project Pursuit & Procurement

  • Oversees the deadlines and responsibilities of all project pursuits within one or more assigned sectors.
  • Researches and identifies new opportunities. Manages the entire proposal development process for the assigned sector(s).
  • Leads the preparation of all materials and develops effective win strategies.
  • Leads preparation of presentations for client meetings and interviews.
  • Provides coaching to technical staff on presentation skills.

Business Development

  • Actively pursues and maintains relationships with strategic partners in the industry.
  • Leads the strategy, organization, and implementation of various client events, including golf tournaments, socials, tradeshows, team-building activities, lunch-and-learn presentations, and more.
  • Works with the sector Client Relationship Director (CRD) to develop and implement business development plans for sector leadership and staff.

Marketing & Communications

  • Leads the marketing pursuits of one or more of Henderson’s sectors, serving as the firm’s marketing expert on that sector(s).
  • Leads the monthly practice meetings along with the sector CRD.
  • Performs market research to stay abreast of industry trends and changes.
  • Identifies potential sponsorship opportunities to build the Henderson brand.
  • Provides feedback and updates internally, keeping leadership and the rest of the organization up-to-date and informed on marketing and communication initiatives.
  • Provides information for external social media posts.
  • Assists with writing and designing various promotional efforts, including client newsletters, website articles, white papers, press releases, social media posts and advertisements.
  • Provides input on branding, swag and marketing collateral to help raise our brand awareness.

Strategy & Planning

  • Develops and implements annual sector marketing and communication goals and plan.
  • Works with sector leadership to lead annual business planning efforts.
  • Coordinates with sector leadership throughout the year on progress toward stated annual goals.
  • Creates sector strategies for improved client development and relationship maintenance.
  • Management of marketing staff that support the sector (as needed). Staff could include sector marketing coordinators, sector marketing specialists, and/or sector marketing managers.
