JOB SUMMARY
Assess, treat, and care for patients with breathing disorders. Assume primary responsibility for all respiratory care modalities, including the supervision of respiratory therapy students and new graduates. Initiate and conduct therapeutic procedures; maintain patient records; and select, assemble, check, and operate equipment.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education
Graduate of Registry Level Respiratory Care Program
Registered Respiratory Therapist Credential NBRC
Minimum Work Experience
No previous experience
Required Licenses / Certifications
State of Texas licensure in Respiratory Care
Annual renewal of National Board for Respiratory Care active status for therapists subject to the Continuing Competency Program (CCP)
Graduate Therapists must obtain CRT credentials and then test for RRT credential and NBRC Credential active status within 1 year of graduation. If RRT Credential is not obtained, will be placed into Respiratory Care Practitioner job position until RRT credential is obtained.
BLS - should not initiate patient contact until completed
ACLS - completed within six (6) months
ENPC or PALS - completed within one (1) year
NRP - completed within one (1) year
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Input data into computer programs.
Maintain work area according to OSHA and NIOSH standards.
