By bridging the gap between analysis and application, this leader will empower teams across the organization to leverage aerodynamic data effectively.

This individual will focus on developing advanced aerodynamic solutions that improve vehicle performance while ensuring effective communication and collaboration across departments. Success in this role hinges on outstanding leadership, the ability to inspire a high-performing team, and the capacity to translate complex data into actionable insights that advance team objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mentor and develop team members by providing regular feedback, fostering growth, and creating opportunities for learning and advancement.
  • Effectively delegate tasks while maintaining oversight to ensure project success and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Cultivate an inclusive team environment that encourages diverse perspectives and innovative problem-solving.

Understanding and Communicating Aerodynamic Results

  • Analyze data from CFD simulations, wind tunnel testing, and on-track results to decipher the mechanisms driving aerodynamic performance.
  • Identify and clearly explain the "why" behind the data, ensuring that both technical and non-technical stakeholders understand the results and their implications.
  • Use storytelling and visualization techniques to translate complex aerodynamic findings into actionable insights for other departments.
  • Strategic and Technical Leadership

  • Define and communicate the team’s objectives, aligning technical goals with the overall vision of Hendrick Motorsports.
  • Oversee the design, testing, and optimization of aerodynamic components, ensuring projects are delivered on time and exceed performance expectations.
  • Lead the development and implementation of advanced analytical tools, methodologies, and processes to enhance aerodynamic performance.
  • Communication and Cross-Department Collaboration

  • Foster strong relationships with the vehicle design, race engineering, and fabrication teams to ensure cohesive integration of aerodynamic solutions.
  • Collaborate with OEMs and external partners to plan and execute full-scale, reduced-scale, and CFD testing, leveraging insights to improve methodologies and results.
  • Act as a bridge between teams by effectively communicating findings, ensuring alignment, and providing technical support to achieve shared goals.
  • Continuous Improvement and Innovation

  • Inspire the team to push boundaries, drive innovation, and maintain Hendrick Motorsports’ position at the forefront of aerodynamic research and development.
  • Leverage expertise in CAD, CFD, and data analysis to create high-quality models and refine processes for maximum efficiency and performance.
  • Encourage team-wide adoption of Hendrick’s core value of Improvement by implementing processes that foster continuous learning and growth.
  • Qualifications

    Required Leadership Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to convey complex technical concepts in an understandable and actionable manner.
  • Technical Expertise

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in aerodynamics, with a focus on motorsports or high-performance vehicles.
