BE THE CEO OF YOUR JOB
As the Law Clerk, you will support the Department's attorneys and other staff in all aspects of the Department's responsibilities. The position is intended to provide the Law Clerk with an overview of transactional/general corporate legal practice over a 10-week summer clerkship by providing hands-on learning opportunities, shadowing, and mentoring. Tasks may include: reviewing vendor contracts; drafting leases, contracts, and other legal documents; assisting with transaction due diligence and closings of real estate purchases and sales; researching legal issues relevant to the Company and its operations; assisting with trademark filings and other matters relating to the Company's intellectual property; and attending internal client meetings with the Department’s attorneys. Exact duties and learning opportunities will depend on the needs of the business during the clerkship.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- With oversight from the SVP – Legal and other Department staff, review vendor contracts; draft leases, contracts, and other legal documents; assist with transaction due diligence and closing of real estate purchases and sales; research legal issues relevant to the Company and its operations; and assist with trademark filings and other matters relating to the Company's intellectual property.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Education
- Completed at least one year of legal education at an accredited law school
Experience and/or Training
- Interest in transactional legal practice with a focus on real estate and/or general corporate practice
- Ability to handle a fast paced, deadline driven environment
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments while delivering consistent, quality work product to attorneys and internal clients
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work with little supervision and to seek help when needed
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Ability to think independently while working within a group
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Law school grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENT
- U.S. Work Authorization (required).
