What are the responsibilities and job description for the PRODUCTION MANAGER/DISTRIBUTION CENTER position at Hendrickson?
Position Purpose:
Responsible for all distribution operations to assure on time delivery, lead times, manufacturing costs, safety, quality and housekeeping. Serves on the Director of Operations staff to assist in the management of the overall growth and viability of the business.
Essential Functions:
- Supervise production supervisors to ensure plant operational targets are met (Safety, Quality, Productivity, & On Time Delivery) and that plant policies are being followed in a firm and consistent manner. Responsible for conducting and monitoring disciplinary actions and performance goals for employees including providing training and cross training to employees.
- Manage and implement process improvements for productivity, quality and safety through Kaizen and VSM events. Manage the production MOS process ensuring continuous improvement by developing proper reasonable expectations (RE’s) for each job and working with the teams to reduce lost time.
- Participate in production planning in the areas of plan attainment, days on hand and delivery. Plan, organize, and develop company resources to meet efficiency and productivity goals and objectives for on-time shipment of product to customer.
- Responsible for development of operational targets, cost reductions, Annual Operating Plan (AOP), budgets and capital plans. Ensure that all established company quality standards are adhered to and that substandard product does not reach any customer.
Education and Training
Required: Academic: High School Diploma Major: Business Management
Preferred: Academic: BA/BS Degree Major: Business Management
Minimum Qualifications
Number of years required: 5 or more years in Distribution/Manufacturing environment Industry Experience: Distribution facility experience, Pick pack ship, basic kitting, direct manufacturing supervision
Previous job experience: Experience with material handling equipment, kitting, shipping receiving, knowledge of OSHA and other safety regulations, should be able to design and carry out safety programs, including training, skills in assisting the HR function
Equipment: Good computer skills, Microsoft applications
