Chemistry Stockroom Manager
The Hendrix College Chemistry Department is seeking a 10-month, 25 hr/week, part-time staff member to serve as stockroom manager. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. A bachelor's degree in chemistry or related field with relevant experience is required. A master’s degree in chemistry or related field is preferred.
The main responsibilities of this position include overseeing the chemical stockroom and performing preparation, set-up, and take down of chemicals and equipment for teaching labs, hiring, training, and supervising student workers in the stockroom, determining and ordering chemical and equipment needs for teaching laboratories, properly collecting department hazardous waste, and maintaining departmental chemical inventory.
Preferred experience and skills include knowledge of chemical safety processes and procedures, ability to prepare solutions with precision and accuracy, familiarity with a range of laboratory equipment, chemical analysis techniques, and sample preparation, ability to work independently and in collaboration with students, faculty, and staff, excellent organizational skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
