What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Director, Alliance Management position at Hengrui USA?
Take ownership of several strategic partnerships, including at least one high-profile partner, to ensure successful partnership collaboration, facilitate achievement of partnership milestones and manage stakeholders through strategic challenges.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned partnerships and associated programs/projects to support partners’ strategic objectives
- Manage governance mechanisms by developing and aligning meeting content, handling logistics and managing follow up internally and with partner counterparts
- Project manage collaborative initiatives like technical transfers, regulatory affairs document preparation with internal and cross-partnership teams
- Proactively identify program level challenges, raise awareness and provide transparency to company leadership and relevant stakeholders while leading cross-functional teams through strategic analysis and planning to address these challenges
- Take ownership and project manage drafting, aligning and finalizing supplementary agreements, or agreement re-negotiations, within specified timelines or as needed by the program to enable program progress and minimize potential impact to key timelines
- Monitor program activities on both sides of the partnership to ensure compliance with partnering agreements and provide guidance to team members on contract compliance matters
- Track key partnership developments, e.g., milestones, deliverables, and development / commercial timelines, to ensure fulfillment of agreement obligations
- Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams (R&D, BD, CMC, Regulatory, Commercial, Manufacturing, Legal, etc.) to ensure constructive collaboration with the partner and that deliverables, such as data delivery, clinical trial milestones, drug supply needs, or commercialization plans, are met in a timely manner
- Provide visibility on partnerships to senior leadership and partnership stakeholders through regular and ad hoc reports and presentations on partnership status
- Contribute to development of alliance management department internal knowledge management and organization resources by identifying opportunities and developing content
- Manage ad-hoc administrative activities with vendors, supporting functions and enterprise resource management tools
- Support fellow AM team members with specific partnerships by tracking partnership developments and provide an extra set of eyes and hands as needed
- Contribute to BD team initiatives by reviewing draft term sheets and license agreements to ensure feasibility for AM execution post deal and support ad hoc analysis as needed
(Note: This is an Alliance Management role. Business Development related responsibilities are limited.)
Job requirements -
Education/Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of working experience in the pharma or biotech industry
- Minimum Master degree in related fields or business/economics. Ph.D.in natural sciences/MBA preferred
- Experience in successful cross-border partnerships preferred
- Experience in professional services delivery and client-facing responsibility preferred
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- A structured communicator. Fluent in both spoken and written Chinese is a plus
- A problem solver with a collaborative nature
- Networking and negotiating skills
- Project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and workstreams across functions
- Strong understanding for drug development and ability learn about new technology, science and industry trends
