YOUR ROLE
The Development Chemist role supports the development of adhesives for construction applications. The primary focus is on polyurethane systems (liquid, hotmelt, or solvent based). Product development activities include independent project management, laboratory scale synthesis and formulation, adhesive characterization, and adhesive performance testing.
•Synthesis of polyurethane polymers – liquid, hotmelt, and solvent based
•Perform standard laboratory testing to characterize polyurethane polymers and formulations
•Test adhesives for suitability of application to various substrates
•Prepare sample bonds between substrates and evaluate bond strength and reliability in a reliable, reproducible manner.
•Tabulate, plot and interpret data; determine trends and recommend future experiments.
•Prepare and deliver presentations on research projects for customers, management and technical audiences
•Support intellectual property activities by keeping records of work in accordance with best practice and legal standards.
•Assure all PD laboratory work is carried out in a safe manner including employees wearing personal protective equipment, training on safety practices, 5s, etc. and products and processes complying with all international, federal and state regulatory agencies.
