YOUR ROLE
- Responsible
for all haircolor, bleach and texture product development activities in
coordination with NPI, with
Marketing and Education, internal and external product testing, product
innovation, as well as management of regulatory issues. Supervise daily
functions of Hair color group and provide direction in projects.
Formulate hair color products requested by Marketing and Private Label
departments, develop innovative solutions to problems, keep abreast of new
raw materials, and develop new claims and efficacy models and aesthetics
benefits.
- Understand and implement the overall
department strategy and research priorities. Oversee and provide
scientific input and guidance to ensure proper functioning of the research
and development programs.
- Work with other
R&D groups, Marketing, Field staff, suppliers, and outside research
labs to represent R&D and influence new product development planning
and innovation.
- Develop,
formulate and test new personal care products within timelines,
performance and cost objectives. Actively participate in creating
realistic time lines with Project planning and Marketing.
- Contribute actively to the departmental meetings; demonstrate leadership, business sense and the
ability to see the big picture and propose action items to further the
goals of the department and the company. Actively explore
shared values, mutual interest, build consensus and trust in the
department.
- Foster an environment
of innovation within the R&D group, help allocate time and select
viable exploratory projects. Must personally engage in research activities
to develop innovative products, identify new technologies, applications, claims,
and testing methodologies.
- Create a healthy
working environment to help subordinates meet stretch goals. Provide
developmental evaluations and address developmental needs within the
group. Oversee staff development in the groups, recommend technical
courses and on the job development opportunities
- Liaise with vendors, develop collaborations within the industry to research and develop new raw materials and technologies.
