Description
Hennebery Eddy Architects seeks a highly skilled historical intern, having completed coursework in historic preservation, to work with our Historic Resources Group (HRG). This internship is open to aspiring historic preservation specialists and individuals with architectural backgrounds is a plus but is not a requirement. Responsibilities will include supporting HRG staff with historical research, technical writing, performing hands-on condition assessments, and developing recommendations and rehabilitation designs meeting the Secretary of the Interior's Standards. There may also be opportunity for travel to project sites throughout the west for field work. Interns are an integral part of our Historic Resources Group and will also participate in and contribute to the firm's broader architectural practice and collaborative culture. This position is located in the Portland, OR office. Relocation stipend will be offered.
Responsibilities
- Assist with historical research, hands-on condition assessment, and material analysis.
- Assist with technical writing which may include preparation of National Register nominations, Determinations of Eligibility, condition assessment reports, Historic Structure Reports, Building Preservation Plans, and historic specifications.
- Participate in the development of design and technical aspects of historic projects, including treatment recommendations and regulatory reviews.
- Contribute to office culture, initiatives, and learning programs.
Qualifications
- Studies in Historic Preservation or closely related field.
- Evidence of strong technical writing skills.
- Graphic presentation skills.
- Proficiency in the use of 2D/3D software such as Revit, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, or Bluebeam.
- Excellent time management, collaboration, and communication skills.
- LEED accreditation encouraged.
- A minimum of two references.
