Description
The Pre-Owned Sales Manager ensures customers retention and the profitability of the pre-owned profit center.
- Maintains pre-owned vehicle inventory. Monitors customers' likes and dislikes, lost sales, and dealership sales history and conducts local market analyses to determine which vehicles to stock.
- Responsible for partnering with third party vendors and the service department to complete internal service work on used vehicles prior to entering lot inventory.
- Manages the refurbishing of previously used vehicles (reconditioning). Ensures that cosmetic and mechanical reconditioning is performed within the dealership's cost and time limitations.
- Plans and manages the display of vehicles in the parking area and helps manage the inventory lot.
- Routinely walks the lot to inspect overall condition of inventory, advertising, banners and area grounds. Ensures that the required stickers have been updated and applied to used inventory.
- Meets and greets all customers early in sales process and stay actively involved throughout process.
- Inspects and appraises all incoming used vehicles. Keeps up-to-date on the current market and current evaluations of previously used cars.
- Presents purchase value to customer and ensure all customers have option to purchase as part of sales process.
- Trains and motivates the personnel reporting to him/her and participates in hiring this personnel, together with his/her supervisor.
- Handles and resolve customer issues or concerns promptly and professionally.
- Ensure high standards are held for delivery of vehicles to customer.
- Ensure that sales representatives understand and follow dealership policies at all times.
- All other duties assigned.
Requirements
- Two years of previous experience as an Automotive Pre-Owned Sales Manager/Director and must be well-versed in vehicle acquisitions, vehicle appraisals, merchandising, managing the vehicle reconditioning process, managing inventory, and retailing used cars.
- Experience and knowledge of finance operations, knowledge of bank programs and ability to create excellent lender relationships are important for this position
- Excellent communication and customer service skills are required
- Previous experience with high-volume and producing high units per month is preferred
Working Environment & Physical Demands
Duties are performed throughout the dealer premises, both indoors and outdoors and on customer test drives. Work includes frequent movement around the company facilities and the outdoor car lot to interact with customers and other departments. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear and is frequently required to stand, walk and sit.
The position requires regular and predictable attendance. Scheduled shifts will include evening hours, weekends, and holidays.
