Job Description

Participates in the delivery of individualized peri-operative registered nursing care under the supervision and guidance of a licensed physician or a registered professional nurse. Collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to assure quality patient care.

• Basic knowledge of instrumentations.
• Establish / Maintain sterile field and assure team maintains sterile environment.
• Demonstrates correct and safe instrumentation passing.
• Participants in surgical counts (sponge, needle and instruments), per policy
• Adheres to Policy and Procedures, all regulatory standards and Patient Safety Goals.
• Participates in the nursing process for patients of all ages served.
• Participates in unit educational activities.

Qualifications

Education : High school graduate or equivalent required. Successfully completed an accredited surgical technologist training program and holds a current credential as a certified surgical technologist from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or its successor. Or, has successfully completed a training program for surgical technology during the person's service as a member of any branch of the armed forces of the United States.

Experience : None required.

Licensure, certification, and / or registration : Certification in Surgical Technology required. LPN licensure required for grandfathered employees. Obtain and / or maintain registration with the VA Dept of Health Professions.

Life Support : Must obtain / maintain AHA BLS-HCP.

Other Minimum Qualifications : Satisfactory completion of structured orientation program.

Shift Details : 8, 10, 12 hour shifts. Occasional weekends and holidays.

Salary range : $23.97 - $35.96

Sign-On Bonus : $6,000 over 2 years

Fee : 18%
