What are the responsibilities and job description for the Air Force JROTC Instructor position at Henrico County Virginia?
General Statement of Duties
The goal of the Air Force Junior ROTC program at Deep Run is to expose students to the history, goals, and ideals of the U.S. Air Force. The program teaches students the importance of character development, leadership, teamwork, self-discipline, critical thinking, communication, and organizational skills, along with a study of the fundamental aspects of health, wellness, and physical fitness. The program places an emphasis on exposing students to the experiences and expectations of being a future member of the U.S. Air Force.
This assignment is for the 2025-26 school year with a July 1, 2025, start date.
Essential Duties
The successful candidate will be required to :
- Work collaboratively with the school administration to support the recruitment of students into the program. Provide ongoing leadership and command of the ROTC unit at the school.
- Duties will include managing the unit supply functions, coaching the drill teams, and performing other administrative duties associated with the AFROTC program.
- Must be willing to work after school, evenings, and week-ends to plan and / or execute extracurricular activities for the unit.
- Plan, organize, and deliver instruction to meet individual and group learning needs utilizing state guidelines and division curriculum.
- Regularly exhibit considerable knowledge of learning theory and best practices.
- Consistently act in the best interests of students and model appropriate behavior in all professional interactions.
The physical demands of this assignment include the ability to sit and stand for extended periods and the ability to lift and move items weighing up to 25 pounds.

Additional Information
The monthly salary is paid by the school district and is based on a 12-month employment contract. The salary is determined by the minimum instructor pay (MIP), which is set and provided by the AJROTC. The actual MIP will be requested prior to accepting the assignment and is part of the employment certification process through the AFJROTC.
