Essential Duties
Energy Analyst Intern II : This position is a paid internship for the summer of 2025. The student will be assigned to work in our General Services Department in the Sustainability Division to support the Energy Management program. Desired Area of Study / Program : Engineering, Architecture, Sustainability, Environmental Studies, or related program.
Desired GPA : Student in good standing
Work Hours : 8 : 30 am - 4 : 30 pm are core hours. Internship hours may vary within the core hours based on the student hired. Interns could be scheduled to work up to 29 hours per week based on the assignment and the intern's availability.
Expected Start Date : Friday, May 16, 2025
Expected End Date : By the start of the fall semester. However, depending on the performance and availability of the student hired along with the departmental projects, the internship could be extended through the fall semester.

Intern Status : This is a paid internship at a rate of $16.00 per hour. Interns are allowed to work up to 29 hours per week.
The Intern may be assigned the following duties :
- Assist with energy efficiency and renewable energy project identification and implementation
- Analyze the utility data, including water and energy usage at governmental facilities
- Calculate return on investment
- Review, verify, analyze and research data
- Prepare promotional and informational materials
- Site visits and follow up
- Support programming efforts : Providing energy resources and education to Henrico Citizens, business, and employees at energy fair events
- Other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Through the course of the internship the student will gain knowledge of :
Internships are intended to provide the intern with basic experiential exposure to a field of interest. The intern must bring a strong interest in the assigned department's mission and operations and be prepared to work in a fast-paced environment. The intern will receive training relevant to the assigned responsibilities and finish the internship having gained basic experience in various aspects of the operations of the assigned department as well as basic skills and industry knowledge. Internships may include extensive public contact. Internships may be an integral part of a team or may require the intern to work more independently. The intern will also learn how to work in a professional environment and have opportunities to network with department leaders and other professionals in the internship field.
Minimum Qualifications
Education : Pursuing a college degree in a field relevant to internship or post-secondary vocational / technical training in a trade or craft that is relevant to the internship; GPA - student in good standing; prefer a college student in the junior or senior year of the relevant degree program.
Experience : Completion of courses in relevant degree or vocational / technical program; relevant job or volunteer experience.
Or : Any equivalent combination education and experience which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities relevant to the internship.
NOTE : Internships for academic credit are for current college students only who are enrolled in a program that either requires or allows for an internship.
