General Statement of Duties
Vacancy is open until filled. Salary is prorate based on official start date for internal candidates. Minimum salary is $32,841.37 for the 2024-25 year. This is a 12-month, 260 day position.
Full-Time Maintenance Assistant I - FLOATER PositionHome base / Department of Facilities. This floater / substitute Maintenance Assistant I position supports all schools and locations where needed for short and long term intervals .
Essential Duties
- Assists site based maintenance teams with landscaping, mowing, leaf removal, mulching, weeding and edging and grounds beautification projects
- Assists in the operation, maintenance, repair, replacement and installation of school property
- Assists with general maintenance, exterior projects, pressure washing, and other duties as assigned
- Assists with rooftop maintenance, safely perform gutter cleaning as well as other high-altitude tasks
- Assist with interior repairs and maintenance of furniture, glass, lighting, carpet and tile
- Performs preventative maintenance on HVAC equipment and other mechanical components
- Maintains tools, equipment and supplies in accordance with standards
- Provides assistance during inclement weather for snow removal and ice remediation, flood damage and control and is considered essential personnel during emergencies
- Performs overtime and other duties as assigned
- Must provide own transportation to and from various schools and assignments
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school or trade school. Some knowledge of general maintenance tools and their use; ability to perform routine maintenance and repair tasks with minimum instruction and supervision. Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, landscaping and grounds maintenance preferred. Must have a valid Virginia Drivers License.
