General Statement of Duties

Performs technical bookkeeping, processes payables and receivables, travel coordination, and other work in connection with the financial operation of the Police Division; does related work as required.
This position is primarily responsible for processing all payments for the department, maintains several logs related to receivables and payables including travel, open purchase orders, tuition, extradition billing, and multi-jurisdiction billing, verifies procurement card transactions for multiple units, and does related work as required
Essential Duties
This position serves as the payables clerk for the department. The payables clerk is responsible for processing all payments for vendors, tuition reimbursement, travel related expenses, and other accounts. This position manages adjunct accounts for other department members related to non-profit activities and multi-jurisdiction operations.
The successful candidate will have :
- Good communication skills
- Ability to extract, manipulate, and report data using Excel
- Excellent organization skills and record keeping skills.
- Considerable knowledge of methods used in keeping fiscal accounts and records
- Good knowledge of office terminology, procedures, routines and equipment
- Some knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Ability to perform complex mathematical calculations quickly and accurately
- Ability to keep and to make reports from financial records
- Ability to accurately proofread and verify financial documents
- Ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written directions
- Ability to research a variety of data
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with employees and the public
- Accuracy
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school, preferably with bookkeeping and business coursework, and four (4) years of clerical / bookkeeping work experience; Or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Additional Information
Expected hiring salary range for this position is $41,517.69 - $43,510.65.
