Job Description: Pediatric Nurse--Part time
General Summary: Henrietta Pediatrics is seeking a hard-working, dedicated and enthusiastic nurse to become part of our passionate team providing outstanding medical care to children in our community. Ideal applicant will be self-motivated, energetic, work well individually and in small group settings as part of a team, be receptive to feedback and adapt easily to change. Dependability is paramount. Applicants must have experience in pediatric and outpatient care and be comfortable working and communicating with children of all ages and abilities.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Obtain and document health history, information on chief complaint, vital signs, and broadly assess illness condition and severity.
Execute prescribed treatments and medical interventions, administer prescribed medications, monitor and document treatment progress and patient response. Educate patients and families about health status, health maintenance, and management of acute and chronic conditions.
Document patient assessment and intervention data using electronic health record.
Participate in multidisciplinary teams to improve patient care processes and outcomes. Track quality assurance data and monitor for acute and chronic care management.
Education: RN or LPN. Completion of nursing training from an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred.
Experience: Minimum one year of professional pediatric nursing experience is required. Outpatient experience preferred. Certification in lactation/ breastfeeding counseling (or interest in becoming certified) would be a great bonus.
Other Requirements: Current New York State registered nurse license. Current CPR certificate.
Performance Requirements:
Knowledge:
Knowledge of nursing processes, understanding of health care technology, equipment, and supplies. Familiarity with state law on nursing care, nurse practice guidelines, and clinic policies and procedures.
Knowledge of wellness and common childhood illness, growth and development, child behavior and psychosocial factors.
Knowledge of chart/medical record documentation requirements and federal/state laws related to release of health care information and patient privacy.
Knowledge of Bluey, Disney and Marvel characters a bonus but not required.
Skills:
Skill in time management, problem solving, multitasking, prioritizing, and medical care coordination.
Skill in initiating appropriate crisis interventions and emergency response.
Skill in patient triage in person and over the phone.
Abilities:
Ability to analyze options and then counsel patients and families about choices and make referrals to other providers and resources.
Ability to engage patients and families in the development and implementation of a care plan.
Ability to calculate and administer drug dosages, give injections and vaccinations.
Ability to perform procedures and testing within the scope of RN training including but not limited to: urine catheterization, capillary blood collection and testing, nasal and oral specimen collection, vision and hearing assessment.
Characteristics:
A good sense of humor with a passion and love for medicine and children.
Physical Requirements: Involves standing, walking, bending, grasping, manipulating, and squatting. Occasional need to lift patient during transfer/turn process with or without assistance.
Schedule: 3 days/ week, part-time schedule ` 26-28 hours/ week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) 8am-5pm. No weekends.
Compensation: Based on qualifications and experience. RN: $32-$36/ hr, LPN $26-$30/ hr.
