Your Role
JOB SUMMARY :
The SHEQ Specialist is responsible for administering safety, health, environmental and continual improvement programs. You will be reporting to Senior SHEQ Engineer and Quality Assurance Manager
ESSENTIAL DUTIES :
You will lead the operational safety committee. Maintain meeting minutes, follow up, and support plant staff to ensure closure to action items occurs in a timely manner
You will drive the safety day planning committee
Lead drill activities (fire, spill tornado) for the New Hudson site and leads activities to improve performance
You will assist in investigations of site accidents, injuries, or near misses to determine root causes and to implement preventive and corrective actions
Recommend / implement safety features to reduce employees' exposure to chemical, physical, and other hazards, including documentation, training and enforcement of PPE requirements
You will collect and organize data from accident investigations, facilities inspections, and environmental testing and report results to management as required
Assist in maintaining Atlas Copco ISO14001 & ISO45001 Environmental, Health & Safety Management System
Develops and delivers training on ISO Awareness, safety, health and environmental topics
Track and report all employee completion of required annual training such as hearing protection awareness
You will manage the site security plan as it pertains to employee building access
Coordinate with Sr.SHEQ Engineer to ensure new hires receive required safety training
Prepare safety alerts, toolbox talks, SHEQ news and other written media to support safety program
You will maintain SDS information on the production floor and in the Chemwatch database system
Complete operational safety, health and environmental audits as required (spill kits, waste storage, eye wash station checks etc.)
Assist SHE Engineer with current policies, procedure, regulations, and industrial processes associated with Atlas Copco Henrob's operation
Other related duties as directed by the Senior SHEQ Engineer
To succeed, you will need
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS :
- Knowledge and understanding of safety and environmental regulations in the U.S.
- Good communication and organizational skills with all levels of operations
- Ability to lead cross functional teams toward a common goal
- High energy level and strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
- PC skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint programs..
- Training / Certifications in storm water, DOT Hazardous Materials, RCRA, CSM, ISO14001 and ISO45001 preferred
EDUCATION OR QUALIFICATIONS :
A bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Chemistry or related field
